HENCH-NEWS - 9/25/99

What We Did on Our Summer Vacations...

So, we haven't posted any news lately, and you're probably all wondering, "What the hell is happening with this freakin' ska band, anyway?!?" So, here it is: the members of HENCHMYN have been very busy this Summer, but it hasn't all been about the band. Just like you, we like to travel and go on vacation and all that, so that's what we've been doing. Some of us went out of the country, others went back home to visit with our families and friends and still others just stayed in L.A. and worked (and drank... a lot). What follows, are the stories of our various adventures since we last spoke, along with photos for your viewing pleasure... Enjoy!

HENCHMYN in general:

So, this Summer hasn't been a complete waste of time musically speaking. We actually did play a couple shows in L.A. and Santa Barbara and continued writing more songs for a new CD due out (hopefully) by the end of the year. We played a show at the BLUE SALOON in Los Angeles and that was a lot of fun; maybe next time we play there (never), all the rednecks in the audience can actually come up on stage and jam with us! Click HERE for more pictures from that show.

We also played a gig in Isla Vista at Nichols' girlfriend Lauren's house on Del Playa, and that show really was a lot of fun. It was right at the end of the UCSB school year and everyone was in a very festive mood. Even our favorite weiner-dog Tallcan got into the festivities. Thanks a lot to Lauren and all of her roommates for letting us play there. We also want to thank everyone who came to that show; you guys rock! HERE are some more pictures from that show.

ADAM:
Well, besides staying at home and drinking for most of the Summer so far, Adam actually did manage to get out of town for 2 weeks on a trip to the 49th state, AlaSKA. That's right, Adam and his family flew to Vancouver, Canada and then went on a 7 day cruise up to Alaska. After that, there were 5 more days of fun on the shore of the "Land of the Midnight Sun". The Korn family saw icebergs, glaciers, bears, eagles and a bunch of other cool things, so if you want to see the pictures, click HERE. Adam also moved into a new appartment... you can check out the photos of it HERE.

VINCE:
Vince perhaps had the biggest Summer of all of us, because he finally moved his ass down from Fresno to L.A. He currently resides with Adam in their new place and is waiting tables at a fru-fru Italian restaurant as he looks for a job in the comic book industry. HERE is a picture of Vinny on one of his first L.A. mornings... You can really tell just how excited he is to be here.

GREG:
Greg has visited many places this Summer, including Santa Barbara, San Diego, Los Angeles and Lake Tahao. He also bought a new truck so he can lug his massive bass amplifier around (even though he just sold it for a smaller amp.) Greg is getting ready to make the big move down to Los Angeles in October, which will complete the great "Henchmyn North-to-South Exodus" of 1999. With all band members living in the same town again, we will soon be able to record our second album. This means you should be on the look out for it and many more HENCHMYN shows in the near future.

JEREMY:
Double J. just got back from a two week trip to Europe. He traveled all around The Netherlands, Germany and the Czech Republic. Jeremy maintains that his favorite part of the trip was hanging out with beautiful ladies from his friend's modeling agency in Prague, although I think he probably had more fun in Amsterdamn, where he went around asking everyone if they were "cool". Be sure to click HERE to see some pictures from the trip.

TODD:
The inventor of "the Henchbeat" stayed in L.A. for most of the Summer and worked at his job selling maps to the stars' homes. He did go to his brother's wedding, though, where he got seriously intoxicated. Todd also went on a two week cruise around the Greek Islands and Turkey. HERE are some pictures from that. Todd also managed to buy every Star Wars figure available and in doing so, set the new Guiness' World Record for visiting the most Walmarts in one year! Congratulations Todd!

HECTOR:
Hector did a lot of traveling this Summer... He spent a couple weeks in Lake Tahao and Palm Springs, where he was just 2 over par at a PGA certified course. Click HERE to see pictures from the vacation. Hector and his lovely girlfriend Alicia also hosted a number of bar-b-ques at their Marina Del Rey home. There, guests indulged in scrumptious beef and turkey burgers, along with the finest in alcoholic beverages, including the award-winning "Alicia's dad's margarita".

DAN:
Mr. Hazlett played a lot of frisbee golf in the past couple months. He also went to Denver, CO to visit his family and friends, and spent a few days on Lake Powell. He house-boated around the lake and got into water-balloon fights with other vacationers, much to the delight of everyone involved. In one instance, a group of youngsters even gave Dan a bunch of balloons just so they could have a fight. Dan also spent a few weeks at a Summer camp in Colorado, where he's been a counselor for many years. HERE are some pictures of all the fun.

NICHOLS:
Brian worked hard this Summer selling baylors and compactors. He also went to Santa Barbara, Las Vegas and San Diego to visit friends and party like a rockstar. There aren't any pictures of Nichols' various adventures this Summer, but you can learn all about baylors and compactors at the Nichols Sales Website. If you buy something from them, I get a percentage, so make sure you tell them Adam sent you.
