About the Band

Henchmyn existed for 12 years as a ska, reggae, and punk band hailing from Isla Vista, California--the college town surrounding UC Santa Barbara. They got their start by mesmerizing drunk, dancing students at parties and clubs in the Santa Barbara area, and eventually all band members relocated to Los Angeles, continuing to kick ska tunes like nobody's business.

In 1997, Henchmyn released their first full-length CD entitled Two Thumbs Down, and in March 2004, released a second CD entitled The Entertainment's Here; both discs are available here, and in Santa Barbara area record stores.

During the early stages of Henchmyn, band members were fortunate to live in Isla Vista, a college town very receptive to ska music in general and Henchmyn in particular. The town had long been the spawning ground for all types of music--some good, some bad, some terrible. But in the early- to mid-1990s, the advent of ska and ska-inspired groups like Sparker, Jimmy Two Times, The Mad Caddies, Henchmyn, and others, gave the people something new. Henchmyn's music found a substantial amount of listeners within the Isla Vista student population, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles areas, and in other parts of California, the United States, and the world. The music was always upbeat and danceable, and remains a timeless addition to the varied and vast history of the ska music genre.
